On What to Expect the First Year: "Unquestionably the best book for parents of infants in the first year of life…Consistently avoids the one size fits all…Respects the intelligence of parents…Manages to convey information in a highly readable manner…" - Morris Green, MD

Arlene Eisenberg died at the age of 66 in Manhattan on February 8, 2001. She wrote the best-selling What to Expect series of pregnancy and child-rearing books with her two daughters, Heidi Murkoff and Sandee Hathaway. On Morning Edition (NPR), on 2/16/2001, BOB EDWARDS said:

“Arlene Eisenberg, co-author of What To Expect When You're Expecting, died last week in New York at age 66. Her book, a detailed conversational guide to pregnancy, sold more than 9 1/2 million copies in 31 different languages. It became a best-seller in Europe, Australia and the United States. Eisenberg wrote the book with her two daughters, Heidi Murkoff and Sandee Hathaway. Commentator Susanna Cooper says there are few mothers today who have not benefited from Eisenberg’s work.”
