Resources: Information for Parents

Information for parents of infants and toddlers

In our fast moving world, new parents often feel isolated and in need of emotional and social support.

They may live far away from their families of origin and may lack the close social network that our ancestors had.

When a new baby arrives, new parents need affirmation from others; particularly their own parents and parent-surrogates.

In their new roles as mothers and fathers, they may experience a sense of helplessness and anxiety,
and have difficulty tolerating a host of uncomfortable feelings, ambivalence, and conflict.

In this section we hope to help parents realize that they are the real experts with their children.
